Field of Remembrance

On a very wet morning today, Charleston Academy pupils had the honour of accompanying the Depute Provost of Inverness Councillor Jean Slater and Veterans Champion Councillor Roddy Balfour to open the Field of Remembrance in Inverness.

Catherine De Venny (4K1), Ellie Ross (4T1), Euan Frater (4K1), Sean MacIver (4K2), Liam Gosling (4K2) and Daniel Bennett (4L1) have all recently returned from the schools’ annual trip to the World War 1 Battlefields in Belgium. They were accompanied by trip leader Miss Catherine Bain, PT History at this mornings’ event.

Pupils who went on the Battlefield Trip will lead our House Assemblies next week with guests including our local Councillors, the Provost of Inverness, members of the Royal British Legion and serving members of the armed forces.

Our Poppy Scotland appeal begins in school next week. Poppies will be available for a donation to Poppy Scotland at each House Assembly.
