Bake Off Final

On the day of the BBC Great British Bake Off Final, our Acting Principal Teacher of Home Economics, Mrs Alison Fraser will take part today in a live broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland about why the Bake Off is now the most popular programme on British television and why young people in particular have a new found interest in baking.

At Charleston Academy we recently held our Macmillan Coffee morning, with staff and pupils alike inspired to get baking for charity. Our Home Economics department also runs a successful Cake Decorating Course along with other hospitality courses. We also deliver Scottish Vocational Qualifications in partnership with Inverness College UHI on Practical Cookery Skills.

The photographs above and below were taken by S6 student Liam Black during our MacMillan Coffee Morning last week. Students and Staff were assisted by Mr Mike Matheson, Executive Chef for Mr Albert Roux, OBE who came into school for the day to help with our coffee morning.

Our coffee morning finally raised over £650 for MacMillan Cancer Care.

Mrs Fraser will be interviewed live by Kay Adams this morning on BBC Radio Scotland.
