At the recent opening of the Albert Roux Kitchen, Mr Albert Roux OBE himself presided over events, keeping a watchful eye on the pupils working with him and his Consultant Chefs to ensure everything was prepared to his exact requirements. Chez Roux was very impressed by the work, enthusiasm and commitment of fifth year pupil Leah Keiro. Leah has long had an interest in cooking and hospitality and Chez Roux spotted this talent immediately.
As a result Leah has now been offered a fantastic apprentice chef opportunity with the Albert Roux Consultancy. Leah will take up this brilliant oppportunity later this year and will be based initially at Cromlix Hotel in Dunblane. Cromlix is owned by Andy Murray and will be the location of his wedding. Albert Roux oversees Chez Roux restaurant at the hotel where Leah will be working and will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train with some of the best chefs in the hospitality industry.
Congratulations and Best Wishes to Leah who follows in the footsteps of three other Charleston Academy pupils in recent years. Caitlin Granger is working in Paris, Rebecca Williams is now working at Le Gavroche in London and Gary Millard is at Greywalls in Edinburgh and will soon also be heading to France to further develop his training.
