Our Albert Roux Kitchen was officially opened by Chez Albert Roux OBE himself. Supporters of the project and those responsible for securing the funding that was required attended an informal opening ceremony at 5pm this evening.
Mr Roux and Hospitality pupils served refreshments and canapés from the new kitchen. They were assisted by Mike Mathieson who is a consultant chef to Albert Roux and the Albert Roux Consultancy / Le Gavroche in London. Also in attendance was Mr Roux’s former Chef Consultant, Glen Watson. Glen is now Director Chef at The Belfry Hotel, location of the Ryder Cup, where he oversees the work of sixty chefs. All the quality ingredients were provided by Mr Roux and Rocpool Reserve.
Afterwards, some fifty guests including Provost of Inverness Cllr Alex Graham, Director of Care & Learning Bill Alexander, retired PT of Home Economics Elaine Bremner and many of the schools’ partners were shown around the fantastic new facility. Also attending were SQA, Education Scotland, and UK Government Food Advisor Lyndsey Graham.
Our pupils put on an excellent reception. Well done to them and our Home Economics staff, janitors and technicians for all of their hard work setting up for today.
