We Will Remember Them

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, our House Assemblies this week have been led by our Head Boy, Head Girl and their Deputes. They read out reflective pieces and short poems on the theme of Remembrance. The highlight of the assemblies was an account of the recent S3 Battlefield Trip to Belgium where pupils visited the World War 1 Graves.

At each assembly we have been accompanied by special guests. On Tuesday Mr Roddy Wood from the Royal British Legion in Inverness was accompanied by Ex Sgt Major Mr Sam Ward from the Gordon Highlanders. Mr George Davidson, President of the Royal British Legion in Inverness and local Councillor Graham Ross also accompanied us. On Wednesday Vice President of the Royal British Legion Mr David Taylor and Chairman Mr Joe Davidson joined us along with Councillor Allan Duffy who is the Forces Champion.

On Thursday we welcomed Provost of Inverness, Councillor Alex Graham and Rev Andrew Barrie from Kinmylies Parish Church. Corporal Martin Bergh from the Army Careers Centre and serving soldiers from the Army Outreach Teams at Cameron Barracks and Fort George also joined us.

Our guests were overwhelmed by the presentations, poems and reflective pieces by our pupils. Our final assembly of the week takes place on Friday.

On Sunday our Head Boy James Hogan and Head Girl Freya Boa will lay our wreath of poppies at the war memorial. They will then accompany Provost Alex Graham at a short Armistice Reflection on Tuesday 11 November where they will represent Charleston Academy.
