IRA 3-3 CHARLESTON ACADEMY
Goal scorers: Ross Harrison S6, Steven MacLeod S6, Finlay Forsyth S4.
Man of the Match: Aiden MacKenzie S3.
A young Charleston side containing many S4 pupils and Aiden MacKenzie (S3) starting in goal, started off the new league campaign with a well earned 3-3 draw away to Inverness Royal Academy. Charleston started quite tentatively and had to withstand a lot of early IRA pressure. However Charleston settled into the match as it progressed and took the lead through a fantastic Ross Harrison strike. Charleston doubled their lead when Steven MacLeod fired home five minutes before half time. However, IRA responded right on the half time whistle and the game was 2-1 at the break. Finlay Forsyth restored Charleston’s two goal advantage ten minutes into the second half when he headed home a Steven MacLeod cross at the back post. However, defensive lapses cost Charleston and IRA managed to pull two goals back to tie the game 3-3. Aiden MacKenzie then pulled off three fantastic saves late on to ensure Charleston came away with a point.
