A new project for all girls in S1 to S6 has been introduced this session at Charleston Academy. Our Active Schools’ Coordinator Ami Warren along with Mrs Dillon and Miss Flemming in the PE Department have introduced a year-long extra curricular plan for girls. The aim is to increase girls’ participation in extra-curricular activities.
The project has secured funding from various sources. This has allowed us to purchase extra-curricular equipment and secure the services of coaches to deliver specialist sessions. These activities will include Rebound, Power Hoops, Zumba, and Boxercise. Workshops on healthy-eating and a beauty reward session are also included.
The year-long programme will conclude with 5K personalised training led by Miss Flemming with the school participating collectively in Race for Life and raising money for a female charity.
Two Senior Prefects, Beth MacDonald and Rachel MacInnes have been appointed as “Female Participation Ambassadors”. They have already helped promote this club via newsletters, at assemblies, and through encouragement on school noticeboards.
The sessions began in early September and the full programme for the year ahead can be viewed HERE.
