On Monday 19 May Charleston Academy were fortunate to be visited by the prolific children’s author Malorie Blackman. Our S2 pupils, along with pupils from Alness Academy and Millburn Academy, were treated to a session in which Ms Blackman discussed a variety of topics, such as her role as Children’s Laureate, the things that inspired her to become an author and where she gets the ideas for her novels.
Ms Blackman also read excerpts from her new release Noble Conflict, a novel based in the world created in her seminal work Noughts and Crosses. Pupils were also given the opportunity to ask questions and Ms Blackman stayed to sign books after her presentation. The session was well received by all and our students were able to learn more about the art of writing from an author of truly global appeal.
