Wade Cup

Charleston competed in the Wade Cup recently but struggled to find form in very windy wet cold conditions. A draw against Lochaber High was followed by a defeat from Kingussie High School who went on to win the Cup. With injuries taking their toll a defeat to Ardnamurchan followed.

Charleston missed Captain Danny Kelly who was out with a cracked bone in his foot but were served best by Ian and Craig Rankin, and Rory Gallacher. For the rest of the team it is back to the training field!

With shinty sticks costing up to £35 they are a very expensive item to replace. Charleston are very lucky to have the support of Mr Louis Stewart M.B.E. who patiently fixes broken and damaged sticks. He recently returned 8 to the school as good as new and the shinty club are very grateful for this. Thank you!

The club is having a winter break but the next competitions are for under 14 and girls. Players should be working on their own personal fitness and be ready to resume outdoor stick work when the weather improves.

The recent Lovat cup was won by Lovat who defeated Beauly by 4 goals to 1. It was very encouraging to see so many ex Charleston players doing so well.
