On Friday we held a relaxed Burns’ Supper at lunchtime in the canteen. Our own radio station, Right Enough Radio broadcast live from the stage in the Hall, accompanied by assorted performances with a Scottish theme. Our pipers performed brilliantly in front of the school, accompanied by their tutor Louise McBain, accompanied by an assortment of great talent including highland dancers.
Earlier, S4 pupil Andrew McLean piped in the Haggis.
Depute Head Girl Laura Brown read the Selkirk Grace. Head Boy Shaun Thomas read out the address to the Haggis to a captive audience of pupils. Our Head Cook, Izzy Frew, received the Haggis on behalf of the canteen. Pupils were then served a traditional Burns Supper of Scotsh Broth; Haggis, Neeps and Tatties or Stovies; and Trifle. It was great to see so much talent come together informally in front of the whole school – not an easy task.
