Curriculum for Excellence in Action
This week our S2 students took part in taster sessions provide by the local outdoor learning charity Wild Things. The main purpose of the session was to take learning outside the classroom and work on the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence: Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors.
The session, which took place in Dunain Community Forest, was a resounding success as students learned about local plants and wildlife whilst developing basic bush craft skills such as: wild foods, shelter building and how to start a safe camp fire.
The feedback from the students was incredibly positive. Our work with Wild Things will hopefully become an integral part of the curriculum at Charleston Academy.
