As part of the second year option programme groups of pupils have had the opportunity to be introduced and develop their skill in golf.

Torvean Golf Club which is within walking distance of the school, has excellent practice facilities. These include a driving area, large putting green, bunkers and three practice holes.

Pupils participating in the programme in 2012-13 have made great progress in learning the basics of the game.

Ms Shirley Murray assists as coach and has gone out of her way to welcome the pupils and share her enthusiasm for the game. Ms Murray’s efforts have recently been recognised with awards for her contributions to coaching youngsters.

Charleston Academy is grateful to our neighbours at Torvean Golf Club for hosting the pupils and we look forward to continuing to develop this initiative.

Charleston Academy also participates in the Inverness, Nairn Badenoch and Strathspey Schools Golfing Competition each year.
