Football at Charleston Academy
Football is an important and highly successful extra-curricular activity at Charleston Academy.
- The school is the Inverness base for the Highland Football Academy which was established in 2002. It is governed by a Trust and has three partners: Highland Council, Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC, and Ross County FC
- Charleston Academy is only one of four Scottish Football Association’s Schools of Football. This programme, fully funded by the SFA and delivered on site at Charleston Academy by a dedicated coach and PE staff, provides intensive coaching to pupils in S1 and S2 for one unit each day of the week. Pupils are selected for the School of Football in Primary 7 and participate through to the end of S3. The selection programme includes football aptitude and also a pupil interview. Pupils are extracted from a couple of subjects in order to be able to participate in the programme and attend only one period of PE instead of two each week.
- Finally, football is offered as an extra-curricular activity for pupils at all levels and ages. Pupils may be selected for each of the various teams which are led, coached and organised by the staff below.
