Arches Photography Trip

Written by Charleston Academy on . Posted in Achievements, Curriculum

On Tuesday 15th November, a small group of pupils – Stanley Fraser (2S), Kelly-Marie MacUilliam (4K) and Caithan Brooks (4L) – spent the morning in Inverness city centre as part of their Photography course. During their walk around the centre, the pupils took a variety of photos to practice their skills including taking photos of Inverness Castle, St Andrews Cathedral and Eden Court. They also had to look for art in the city and something that a tourist would find interesting. The trip was also a chance for the pupils to practice their life skills by using public transport and going to a café.  The trip was accompanied by Mr R Stewart and Miss L Gray.

Support for Learning

Written by Charleston Academy on . Posted in Important Announcements

Our Support for Learning Department is undergoing a period of significant change as we integrate it more deeply with our guidance team to create an integrated Pupil Support Team that supports pupils in all aspects: learning, behaviour, social and emotional needs.

One innovative change is the use of Pupil Support (ASN) staff in supporting Pupil Support Classes in S5/6 and in particular providing support for pupils studying three, four or five Highers.

This follows quite significant staff changes due to retirements last session and an increase in the allocation of Pupil Support Assistants.

During the Easter break work will commence on the creation of a specialist Nurture Facility on A Floor (Red Square) that will be used by our Pupil Support Team and members of our Extended Support Team (external agencies).

The department page contains more details and their new Department Blog is now available to everyone.
