Inverness Civic Reception

Written by Charleston Academy on . Posted in Important Announcements, Wider Curriculum

Day 5 marked the end of Week 1 for our Botswana visitors. The morning was spent in school visiting classes before heading to the splendour of the Town House as guests of the Provost Councillor Alex Graham. This was the second Civic Reception the Provost has held for our Connecting Classrooms partnership having previously welcomed staff and pupils in 2013.

Pupils from Lotsane Senior Secondary School, our host students, and staff from both schools attended the Civic Reception. The highlight was an outstanding performance of Scotland the Brave and Highland Cathedral by our school pipers accompanied by students on the African Drums. The group had been coached by Mrs Louise McBain (Piping Tutor) and Mr Scott Nairn (PT Music).

Thank you to Provost Cllr Alex Graham, Mr Scott Taylor and the staff and caterers at the Town House for such a fantastic opportunity for us all.

Albert Roux Dinner 2012

Written by Charleston Academy on . Posted in Achievements, Curriculum, Personal, Wider Curriculum

Our annual Albert Roux Gala Dinner was held on 30th October 2012. Mr Albert Roux and his expert staff from Le Gavroche in London and Rocpool in Inverness spent the day with Charleston Academy pupils. Our Hospitality pupils were put through their paces by the world’s top chef, who advised, assisted, and praised the work of our Hospitality pupils as they prepared and then served a three-course dinner for over 100 paying guests. This year our guests included Provost of Inverness Alex Graham and important representatives from the hospitality industry from across the Highlands. And of course our food critics, the parents of the pupils themselves.
