Engaging in some form of musical activity plays a prominent part in our cultural life. Through the study of Music at Charleston Academy, pupils will experience music as performer, composer and listener.
This broad approach will provide everyone with opportunities to develop their general interests in music, while developing skills in performance, listening and composition.
All the courses we offer are intended to broaden the pupil’s knowledge, ability, achievement, develop creativity and heighten critical awareness. Each pupil is encouraged to develop skills in performing, and experience in all aspects of music, which are designed to be enjoyable, broadening the tastes and experiences of all pupils.
All our pupils are encouraged to participate in music-making and foster music ability at the highest level in or out of the classroom.
There are plenty opportunities for pupils to get involved in extra curricular activities whether it be performing in our concerts or taking part in our pantomimes or talent competitions.
Lunchtime activities include:
- Vocal Group
- String Group
- Ceilidh Band
- Jazz/Rock Band
- Pipe/Djembe Group
Please see any member of the Music Department for more information.
