“Not everything that counts can be counted …
Not everything that can be counted counts.”
Albert Einstein

Mathematics is the study of measurement, properties and relationships using numbers and symbols. It teaches us a way of thinking and helps us to make sense of the world around us. It can be used to model real-life situations and can equip us with the skills we need for making informed decisions throughout our lives both inside and out of the classroom.

At Charleston Academy the Mathematics department is committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential in the subject. This involves providing a range of courses covering everything from telling the time to advanced integration techniques.

Mathematics is a necessary qualification for any pupil wanting to work in careers such as Engineering, Computing, and Science. Mathematics is also a frequent requirement for Banking, Accountancy, Insurance and Management careers.

it is only becuase they do not realise how complicated life is.”
