Mr Gordon Stewart, Depute Rector

Originally from Barrhead in Glasgow, Mr Stewart was an amateur boxer before studying Philosophy and Classical Civilisation at the University of Glasgow. He has previously taught at Peterhead Academy in Aberdeenshire and at Govan High in Glasgow. Mr Stewart was appointed as Head of RME at Dumbarton Academy in 2004 and later became Acting Principal Teacher of Pupil Support there. Mr Stewart became Principal Teacher of RMPS at Charleston Academy in 2007 and was appointed as Depute Rector in 2009.

Mr Stewart is Year Head for pupils in S1 and S4 and is House Leader for Laggan. Mr Stewart is the schools’ Literacy Coordinator and his current remit also includes overall responsibility for the school timetable. As nearly half of our pupils travel from our extensive rural catchment to school by bus, he oversees all school transport arrangements and is also in charge of Health and Safety across the school. Mr Stewart also organises our annual Sponsored Walk along the Caledonian Canal, a fun, fund-raising day for all of our pupils and staff.
