Inverness College UHI

There are two aspects to our partnership with the University of the Highlands and Islands:

  • Vocational Pathways Programme (VPP – Inverness College)
  • Online Highers

Vocational Pathways

The Vocational Pathways Programme offered at Charleston Academy allows some of our pupils to attend college on a weekly basis to undertake a range of further and higher education courses that are not otherwise available in school. In 2013-14 the following courses are available at Inverness College:

  • Automative Skills

  • Construction Crafts
  • Early Education
  • Engineering Operations
  • Hairdressing

  • Uniformed and Emergency Services

If relevant, pupils will be advised about these courses, as available, by their Guidance teacher. Any other queries should discussed with Depute Rector Miss Rona Macpherson.

Online Highers

Through our partnership with UHI Inverness College, a series of Online Highers is available. These are delivered through the University’s Virtual Learning Environment and are only available to pupils at secondary school. The following subjects are available to study as online Highers:

Highland Council will fund Childcare, Psychology, Sociology and Managing Environmental Resources as these courses are not usually available as a subject within school. Please discuss the online Highers programme with your Guidance teacher or Depute Rector Miss Rona Macpherson.
