Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership programme coordinated by Rotary International and local Rotary Clubs. Thousands of young people participate across the globe each year. In Inverness, our three local Rotary Clubs coordinate the Awards and Summer Camps:

Inverness Rotary Club

Loch Ness Rotary Club

Culloden Rotary Club

The local Rotary Clubs invite schools to nominate pupils (usually in S5, but also S4) to participate. Pupils must complete an application form, discuss their proposals with their guidance teacher, and will then be interviewed by the local Rotary Clubs. Each year we nominate between two and six pupils to participate. Normally at least one pupil will be successful.

In 2012 Anna Duff and Rory Finlayson were successful in gaining a place on the RYLA Camp.

In 2013, three Charleston Academy pupils have been selected, Anthony Keyes, Laura Brown and Georgia Platt.

Selection for RYLA Camps is coordinated in school by Miss Macpherson and our Guidance teachers. If you are interested or want to find out more please speak to your guidance teacher first.
