Our Facilities

Charleston Academy opened in 1978, built in spacious surroundings amid the beautiful backdrop of the Caledonian Canal, Bught Park and Torvean golf course. With thirty practical classrooms for delivering subjects like Art, Music, Technical, Home Economics, and Science, we also benefit from a refurbished hall/theatre, a modern canteen and assembly area and six recently refreshed computing suites.

Our main teaching block has a further thirty classrooms, all equipped with computers. Most have smart boards and all have large windows allowing ample natural daylight.

As a former School of Ambition, extensive improvements to our playing fields have been undertaken in recent years. We have two state of the art Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAS), a floodlit, all-weather astro-turf pitch and large, extensive track and playing fields. Within our refurbished Community Centre our PE department has two gyms, a fitness suite and has full disabled access. Our Community Centre has a two meeting rooms, a large multi-purpose community venue and an excellent and well used cafe.

Our state of the art Albert Roux Training Kitchen opened in February 2015 providing a modern catering kitchen for our hospitality students undertaking skills for work courses. The school has been fundraising for this facility with additional funding coming from Highland Council and grants from Education Scotland.
