On Tuesday 4th October the Charleston Hockey teams travelled to Gordonstoun for an afternoon of games.

The first game of the day was the S2 team.  The girls played an eight a-side cross pitch match and delivered an outstanding performance against Gordonstoun.  The girls played some great hockey in attack and put pressure on the Gordonstoun defence right from the start.  The game finished 8-0 to Charleston. Goal scorers were Abbie Maclean (2L1), Katie Gillies (2L1) and Molly Robertson (2L1).

Congratulations to Abbie Maclean who has been selected as captain of the S2 team and Katie Gillies who has been selected as vice-captain.

The second game of the afternoon was the senior girls.  The girls played an 11 aside full pitch game against a very strong Gordonstoun team.  The first half was a very defensive game for Charleston.  Charleston were down by two goals at half time however in the second half they sharpened up their game and came back to finish with a 2-2 draw.  Goal Scorers were Elidh MacCormick (5L2) and Sophie Fraser (5T).

Congratulations to Nicole McIntosh (6K) who has been selected as our captain for the senior team and Alice Fraser (4K1) who has been selected as vice-captain.

The Third game of the afternoon seen our S3 team take to the pitch.  The S3 team played their best game of the year so far.  The team work extremely hard to secure a 2 – 0 win over Gordonstoun.  Goal scorers were Charlotte Stewart (3S2) and Abbie Maclean (2L1).

Congratulations to Kira Buchan (3K) who has been selected as the captain of the S3 team, and Charlotte Stewart who has been selected as Vice-Captain.

The final game of the afternoon was our first year teams.  Our A and B team played 8 aside cross pitch games.  The girls all played really well, in particular our new goalies that got padded up and stepped in for the first time.  Charleston played two really tough games against Gordonstoun.  Unfortunately both teams were beaten, however this did not dampen the spirits of the S1 girls.

Congratulations to Cara Gourlay (1L1) who has been selected as the captain for the S1 team and Mirren Barker (1T2) who has been selected as Vice-captain.

Once the games were all finished we were invited to dine with Gordonstoun for dinner.  The girls all had a great time and were all a credit to the school.

A fantastic effort from all teams, well done girls! Enjoy your October break and look forward to a busy term with more highland fixtures after the holidays!
