Shinty Success

Many current and former Charleston Academy pupils have had success playing shinty over the last few days.

The Lovat Ladies shinty team won the Marine Harvest Challenge Cup at An Aird in Fort William on Saturday 27th August, winning 7-1 against local rivals Strathglass.  Current pupils on the team include Rachel MacRitchie 6K, Jasmin Fraser-Allan 6T, Katie Urquhart 6S, Hannah Eaton 5T and Ellie MacKinnon 1L2.  Former pupil Laura Gallacher, who has helped to coach the Charleston Academy girls’ shinty team, scored some of Lovat’s goals.

Congratulations also to former pupils Danny Kelly and Michael MacKenzie from Lovat Shinty Club and Calum Morrison from Beauly Shinty Club who played in the North Select Under 21 team at the Jubilee Park in Ballachulish on Saturday.  The North Select won 3-1 against the South Select.  Prior to this match, the Lovat Under 17s team who were winners of the North Development League played Inveraray, winners of the South Development League.  Lovat won 3-1 and clinched the WJ Cameron trophy.  Well done to Mark Kelly 5T, Kevin Johnstone 5T, Kyle Michie 2L1, Harley Marshall 2T1, Finlay Dunbar 1L1, Mitchell Leslie 3L, Joe Embleton 1L1, Ruairidh Buchan 3K, Jamie Buchan 5K2, Finlay Ogilvie 2L2 and former pupils Jonathan Jancsak, Cameron MacMillan and Scott MacKenzie.
