Charleston Academy pupils had wonderful results in the recent Inverness Music Festival Prose Reading and Poetry Reciting categories. All entrants very much enjoyed the experience of performing in front of an audience and the feedback, from the informative and entertaining judge, praised the pupils’ hard work and obvious talents.
Our S2 Verse Speaking Group recited The Black Horseman by George Mackay Brown. Catherine De Venny (2K1), Roisin Martin (2S), Allan Goodwill (2L2), Caragh Gallacher (2S), Cody Ross (2K2), Stuart Hamilton (2T2), Calum Wilson (2T2), Robert Thorne (2s) and Cameron Cochrane (2T2) won The Florian’s Trophy for Speech for the 2nd year running.
Our S3 Public Speaking Team of Morvern Carmichael (3S2), Paige Maclellan (3L2) and Anna Knox (3K1) came 1st and were winners of the Inverness Speakers Trophy (ages 11-15)
The School also won the Inverness Speakers Trophy. Jemimah Morris (4L2), Robert Thorne (2S) and Katie Stark (4K2) did very well.
In the Solo Prose Competition Anna Knox (3K1) won 1st Place with Distinction, while Senior Prefect and House Captain Georgia Coleman (6L) also came 1st with Distinction in Solo Prose S5/6 category.
In S1/S2 Solo Prose, Timothy Cox (1T2) came 1st with Distinction, while Robert Thorne (2S) was awarded 1st with Outstanding.
