Shinty Girls Sixes

On Friday 5th December we hosted the inaugural Charleston Academy Shinty Club Girls Sixes. Five teams from across the region took part, amongst them the first ever Charleston girls team who boasted a strong contingent of Lovat Ladies players. In wintry conditions all teams played enthusiastically, demonstrating the skilful and technical aspects of the game. The Charleston team played well in their first outing, beating a newly formed Dingwall team 3-0. However, they were no match for the two teams from Portree, nor for local rivals Glenurquhart, both of whom fielded experienced sides. In spite of this, we were immensely proud to have represented the school for the first time in a girls tournament and to have had the opportunity to enjoy hosting such an exciting event, which we hope will become an annual fixture in following years.
