Every year, on the 20th of March, French speaking countries throughout the world celebrate “La Francophonie”.

The Institut Français d’ Ecosse organised an online competition about “Vive la Francophonie” for S2-S3 pupils in Scotland.

Three teams of 10 pupils from Charleston Academy entered the challenge this year. This was a good opportunity for them to use skills for life and to work as a team, using ICT and French.

The quiz was divided into 5 categories:

  • Geography
  • Sport
  • Culture
  • French language
  • Everyday life

This cross-curricular challenge was very well received by all participants who took great pride in representing Charleston at National level.

As well as being tested on their research skills, pupils had to understand questions in French.

The Modern Languages department would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm and outstanding effort.

The results will be available on http://www.ifecosse.org.uk/ on the 21st April.

Bonne chance à tous!
