Three Charleston Academy pupils were successful in their application to participate in BBC Scotland’s Big Debate. Ryan MacIver (6K), Kieran Bisset (6S), and Kharis MacPhee (6T) are all taking Higher Modern Studies this year. Along with their teacher, Mrs Lyndie Cameron, the entire class applied to take part in the filming. This involved completing a questionnaire on political beliefs and writing a question they would ask during the event. Although the pupils’ questions weren’t broadcast, the three sixth years were delighted to take part in this historic debate, exactly one year until the referendum itself. They also had a fantastic insight into the production and organisation of the debate by the BBC.
