On Thursday 30 May the S4 Rural Skills class took part in a visit to an event organised by the National Sheep Association at Dingwall Mart.
The main aim of the day was for the pupils to collect information for the Rural Skills unit of work called “Land based Industries.” The class were given a guided tour by Stephen Mackintosh, a local sheep farmer.
Stephen showed the class a wide variety of sheep breeds and explained about the work involved in caring for a flock of sheep. The pupils also enjoyed looking at the displays of agricultural machinery (especially the quad bikes!) and watching a display of sheep shearing and a sheep dog trial.
Thanks to Maggie Wormald of the Royal Highland Educational Trust for inviting the class to attend this event.
