photo (1)On Wednesday 20th March Charleston Academy’s first year football team took part in the SFA Cashback 7-a-side football tournament. The competition was run at Charleston Academy with Portree High School and Dingwall Academy also taking part. With only four teams entered (Charleston, Dingwall ‘A’, Dingwall ‘B’ and Portree) we ran a round robin tournament and the winners would qualify to take part in the National finals.

Charleston had their hardest match first as they took on Dingwall ‘A’. They put in a good performance and demonstrated some fantastic football, however Dingwall proved to be slightly stronger and won the match 3-2.

In the second match, Charleston took on Dingwall ‘B’ which was a very close match and both teams played excellent football. Charleston went 1-0 up and looked to be the team in control. Dingwall did not give up easily and kept the pressure on throughout the whole match and managed to finish the match securing a 1-1 draw.

Lastly, Charleston took on Portree in what was the match of the tournament. It was a very close game throughout and both teams gave it one hundred present. Charleston managed to secure a win 5-4.

A great effort from the boys – well done to the whole team!

Charleston take on Invergordon Academy in their next league game on  Wednesday 27th March.
