Rugby Festival

Our S1/S2 Rugby Team had an fantastic (but freezing!) afternoon on Friday. Around 250 boys and girls attended a rugby festival at the canal pitches hosted by the Scottish Rugby Union. Games were coached with an emphasis on learning through the flow of the game itself. Coaching sessions were run by coaches from allover the Highlands and included the advice and coaching from Colin Baillie OBE.   National Age-group coach, Colin Sangster also led sessions.

While our boys played their opening match, staff went to receive the very latest CPD on offer from the SRU.  It was great excitement on the return to the field to discover Charleston had posted their first win of the afternoon!  One more victory was to follow with two defeats, plenty of bumps and bruises and loads of stories to share.

Hospitality was given in the clubhouse afterwards – a very welcome hot cup of soup and sandwiches which helped us warm up!  The boys worked hard all afternoon – they respected the referees and other players, always demonstrating good manners.  Captain, Cameron Kent led by example guiding his team-mates who were more than ready to rise to the challenge.

All in all, a fabulous afternoon of rugby.  I’m sure the boys will be keen to get their next fixture soon!
