Charleston 2014 teamOn Tuesday 5th March 2013 six pupils attended the Lead 2014 conference led by students from University of Highlands and Islands.

The aim of the programme was to train them as a volunteer workforce to raise the profile of sport, physical activity and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games across the country. The aim of the Conferences is to up skill young leaders in order that they can deliver Lead 2014 festivals back in their own communities.

The pupils who attended are Calum White, Beth Macdonald, Pollyanna Grey, Aiden Kent, Azhar Khan and Rachel McIness.

The team will now work together on events in both Charleston Academy and the feeder primaries. Their first venture is the Sport Your Trainers day on Monday 11th March. The team is asking all staff and pupils to wear their trainers to school on that day. They have other plans which pupils will find about through the daily notices.
