Five members of the Third Year Rural skills class have successfully completed a practical First Aid qualification. This course was delivered over 4 weeks by a group of volunteers from the British Red Cross, led by Mr Andrew Maclean, Services Manager.

Two Sixth Year pupils Stephanie Brooks 6K and Erin Wardlaw 6S who volunteer with the Red Cross also assisted with the training sessions.

On Thursday 21 February the pupils were assessed by taking part in an outdoor emergency First Aid scenario in the school grounds. The class had to demonstrate their skills in assessing casualties and then use their knowledge of CPR, the recovery position and bandaging to treat their casualties.

Five members of the class were presented with a Red Cross First Aid certificate by Mr Andrew Maclean.
